The July 1 start of the sabbatical is rushing
towards us. Between the normal spring
busy-ness for both of us, we’ve been reading a myriad of travel books, scouring
the internet for inspiration, booking reservations and doing the ten thousand
other things that have to be done to pull off this great adventure. We’ve made progress but still have lots to do.
Our flights and rental cars are reserved. Many thanks
to a generous church member for permitting us the luxury of an upgrade into a
class we normally can’t afford on our London and San Diego flights. Lee was
hoping for a flashy red convertible in California, but that was a little above
our budget.
We’re registered for our July weeklong marriage
enrichment event at The Cottage near San Diego: http://coronadocottage.org/
We discovered a lovely vegetarian bed and breakfast
on Coronado Island and booked our room so we can relax and play following the
retreat: http://www.1906lodge.com/
We found a cute apartment for our September visit
to Bath:
We’ve booked a day in the Cotswolds through Mad Max
Tours: http://www.madmaxtours.co.uk/
And places in a cooking class at the Vegetarian
Cookery School in Bath:
Then we’ll head to our charming apartment in London:
We opted for apartments in England to have a little
more space and the ability to cook meals and do laundry.
Back in Pittsburgh, we’ve secured spots in a
gardening class at Phipps:
We’re still searching for a dog trainer to work
with Keegan. If you know of any great ones here in Pittsburgh (not just good
ones!), please let us know.
We’re also shopping for luggage, walking shoes, travel
clothing, voltage converters and other tourist necessities.
The sabbatical countdown begins – less than a month
to go!
Reminder: Sign up with your email address and
"follow us" on our adventures. We'd love to have you join
us!
Awesome. I am very excited for the adventure to begin but you've got to get through June first. Anticipation is sweet. Mike F.
